Light-Fingered Home Help

The theft took place, little by little so that nobody would notice in the house where two elderly sisters lived.

The jewellery was laid sold in a gold purchase & sale establishment in the city of Granada.

It was not until September that the absence of the jewellery was noticed by the daughter of one of them and consequently reported at the Dúrcal Guardia Civil post

The Guardia Civil at first suspected that it had to have been a relative or someone close to the two women as there were not signs of a burglarly; i.e. forced windows, for example.

The case was handed over to the Área de Investigación de la Guardia Civil in Las Gabias, who upon discovering the jewels in the said establishment, obtained details of the person who had brought the into to be sold, which was the home-help employee.

The jewellery was confiscated and returned to its rightful owners. All such establishments are obliged to hold onto any jewellery brought in for a certain amount of time, just in case it turns out to have been stolen.
