Hopes Raised & Dashed

When a trawler off Fuengirola brought up the body of an elderly man in its nets, the family of the missing man in Almuñécar believed that they could at least bury their elderly father's remains.

However, despite initial descriptions of the body giving the family hope, it was not to be and 82-year-old, Francisco Pérez Bedmar remains a missing person, although all hope of finding him alive after all this time has vanished.

The similarity in appearance had nothing to do with a person’s physical description but rather that state of decomposition of the cadaver, which would correspond with the amount of time that Francisco had been missing; i.e., the amount of time in the water.

Francisco Pérez Bedmar went missing on the 22nd of March this year after leaving home for a habitual walk along the beach in the Cotobro/San Cristóbal area of Almuñécar. Francisco, despite his years, was agile and active and still mentally sharp.
