The discovery was made around 11.00h on the Camino de la Barrera, which is the north-east of the city of Granada known as El Fargue (Albaicín district).

According to the Policía Nacional, the body belongs to a newborn baby boy who could have died from hypothermia, axphixia or after having received a blow, although the body shows no signs of violence.

The announcement for the cause and time of death is pending on an autopsy at the Instituto de Medicina Legal, in Granada.

Officers have been meticulously going over the site of the discovery in search of any possible evidence.

Police believe that whoever dug the hole to bury the child lacked the strength to dig deep enough to completely cover the body.
