Almuñécar received an award from the Fearless magazine as a municipality that promotes Flamenco.
The Mayor, Juan Jose Ruiz Joya, said, “it is recognition of our efforts over time, year after year, in promoting and hosting flamenco concerts/shows.”
Mayor Ruiz Joya and the Councillor for Culture, Alberto García Gilabert received the award, Premio al Fomento del Flamenco, in Madrid on the 15th of this month, which was the eve of the Día Mundial del Flamenco. The event took place in the Tablao del Corral de Morería.
Also present to receive their prizes were: the Flamenco singer (cantaor) Kiki Morente; The Flamenco dancer (bailaor) “Carrete de Málaga,” and up-and-coming newcomer in the world of Flamenco, El Yiyo, as well as guitarist Tito Losada and clothes designer, Rocío Peralta, amongst others.
In the magazine’s own words: “Fearless is the first sustainable luxury and social photography magazine. It is accompanied by an itinerant photography exhibition, which is taken up by the printed press, in the format of a ‘capsule magazine’ worthy of collectors.”
