Almuñécar has acquired three, electric hoists or bed lifts for use by the Servicio de Ayuda a Domicilio within Almuñécar and La Herradura.
The Councillor for Social Services, María del Carmen Reinoso, said, “these are fundamental instruments when attending to people who have reduced mobility [within their homes].
She went on to say, “with these hoists it will make work easier for home-help personnel when attending to the elderly who require assistance.”
The company that produces this kind of equipment, which costs nearly 3,000 euros, delivered, assembled and gave instructions on how to use them to social-service workers.
Almuñecar’s Servicio de Ayuda a Domicilio attends to around a thousand people and employs 140 home-help workers, the majority of whom are women.
