PCRs for Entire Village

AND Mobile Junta PCR Units 02Cuevas del Becerro in the province of Málaga will be the first municipality in Andalucía to have its entire population PCR tested.

This comes after a mass screening carried out in this village gave a 71% positive reading for those who turned up; i.e. 130 of the 182 people tested. The total population of the village is 1,589 inhabitants.

To be able to carry out this task, one of the Junta’s eight, mobile, testing units was despatched on Saturday to this village in the Serrania de Ronda.

According to the Instituto de Estadística y Cartografía de Andalucía (IECA), Cuevas del Becerro has the third highest contagion figure in Andalucia with 3,209 cases per 100,000 in the last 14 days. The  highest is Fuente Tójar (Córdoba) with 3,720 per 100k and Aldeaquemada (Jaén) with 3,326 per 100k.

Returning to Cuevas del Becerro, the only people who will be excused are those that already took part in the mass screening, (107 out of 289 summoned) and those that have had a PCR recently.

In other words, this PCR testing is obligatory and failure to comply will be considered an offence against public health, explained the Mayor Ana María García.
