Hospital Santa Ana in Motril has 42 COVID-19 patients admitted, five of whom are said to be in a critical state. In the paediatric wing there is a minor who tested positive.
On the other hand, 17 people have been given the all clear and released with the last batch of ten this Monday past. As can be seen in the photo, medical staff lined the corridor and sent them home with a round of applause.
Again on a positive note one of the patients in the ICU no longer requires assisted respiration. However it is not all good news and a total of three patients have succumbed to the infection.
Santa Ana has a total of 176 beds but will increase its capacity in order to make room for more patients; the physiotherapy gym and several outpatient surgeries have been turned over to hospitalised, non-COVID-19 patients.
Furthermore, the post-operative recovery unit has been adapted to function as an ICU for non-infected patients, leaving the normal ICU for those being treated for Coronavirus.
The Southern-Granada Health Board Area comprising of Costa Tropical and La Alpujarra has 44 confirmed cases COVID-19 amongst its medical staff confirmed and a further 27 waiting for the results of their tests.
Lastly, the Junta de Andalucía has confirmed 13 new deaths amongst patients suffering from the virus in little over 24 hours within the province and 121 newly confirmed cases. Although Andalucía has one of the lowest infection/deaths rates in Spain, within the region, Granada is the worst infected.
