Around 20 volunteers have participated in a clean up on the Velilla groyne; that’s the one just past the waterpark.
The volunteers, who had the support of the Club de Buceo Almuñécar, organised this operation as part of the Environment Month, which is being held in Almuñécar.
The clean up not only concentrated on the boulders themselves that make up the groyne, but also the nearby beach areas.
Just some of the ‘litter’ that they collected was the forks and wheel belonging to a motorbike!
“It was a small gesture to show how important being aware of the effort needed to keep our environment healthy,” said the Councillor for the Environment, Luis Aragón.
