Two young lads were caught with a stolen scooter by the Almuñécar Policía Local. They have been charged and the vehicle returned to its owner.

The theft took place in the early hours of Thursday morning, in the Plaza de Madrid. A call from a local had alerted the police to say that two individuals were in the act of stealing a parked scooter.

When the police arrived the two culprits, one of whom is a minor, fled, attempting to shake the police patrol in Barrio Fígares. They caught up with them as they were trying to set light to the scooter with gasoline that they had in a bottle.

The bike was returned to its owner, although the saddle was badly burnt – the steering lock had also been forced.
