I love Playa Tesorillo at the Velilla end of Almuñécar – great beach and stunning scenery. On top of that Chiringuito El Tesorillo is a winner!

I have known the proprietor, Rafa, for a while; when he ran Restaurante Veintiuno in Velilla and when he ran Restaurante La Ventura with his then business partner, Fernando. Wherever he has been, he’s consistently churned out culinary goodies at very reasonable prices.

Chiringuito El Tesorillo has a privileged position on a privileged beach, with its spacious inside dinning area with blue and white colour scheme – very Spanish seaside colours.

They have ample a-la-carte with, as you would expect, plenty of fish dishes, as well as meats & salads, etc. In the summer they have a sand-filled boat where they do their excellent BBQs.

And of course, there are their Brazilian BBQ’s all year round that are very popular, which include a wide variety of meats (nine different meats & six garnishes) for just 19.90 euros

They speak English and German and the restaurant has its own parking and the chiringuito is also accessible for those with mobility problems.

Closed on Thursdays, but open 13:00h to 16:00h and 19:00h to 22:30h on all other days.
