Izquierda Unida in Motril have criticised the rise of 7.5% in the cost of mains water, thanks, they consider, to the collusion between the PP and PSOE.

The said opposition party, IU, also pointed out that the water company, Aguas y Servicios turned a profit of 2.9m euros in 2016.

According to the IU, the contract drawn up by the PP & PSOE between the Town Hall and the said utility company gives the latter greater benefits; the greater the expenses they incur.

They further point out that the company continues to cut off the water supply to families in need and then charge “abusive reconnection charges, plus interest, out of proportion with the debt owed.”

They finished by suggesting that 22 years of providing water services to the towns and villages of the Costa has been very profitable for the company and a ‘nice little earner’ for them, yet in those score years since this service was privatised, not once has PP & PSOE asked the over 95,000 users how they perceive the service provided.
