The Public Works Department at the Almuñécar Town Hall has been eliminating architectural barriers around town (obstacles for those with mobility problems).

Workmen have been working on Calle Larache and access to Parque Blas Infante (Friday Market Square).

The Councillor for the Department, José Manuel Fernández Medina, explained that the area was used by a lot of pedestrians, some of whom have mobility problems and others, like mothers, are pushing prams. The problem was greater in the summer with the summer fair, but also on Fridays and Sundays with the markets in general.

In the meantime, the work removing ficus trees and replacing the with palms continues, as well as repairing the damage caused by the ficus roots.
