The Chiringuitos guild of Almuñécar and La Herradura rejects the idea of a mussel farm off the Punta de la Mona.

This guild effectively joins the hostelry and diving communities, who have also expressed their rejection of such a project, which is at this moment being considered by the Town Hall.

The representatives from the chiringuitos guild had a meeting with the Mayor at the Town Hall, where they made their feelings known about these floating facilities.

They Mayor explained that the project, which has been several years in the pipeline, is at present being considered by the Junta de Andalucia for approval.

On the 7th of this month the Mayor will submit a report to the provincial representative of the Junta, dealing with the impact that mussel farming would have on local tourism, after which she will make a statement at a press call.
