Once again it’s party-with-the-troglodytes time in Piñar, in the north of the province. Yes, why not scrape your knuckles for a chuckle next Friday?
The Mayor; the one with a speech impediment in the video below, joins in the fun where the whole village dresses up in animal skins and carries clubs, fruit of a brainstorm several years ago to promote the village’s neolithic cave, La cueva de las ventanas.
The caveman festival is on the 5th but don’t worry if you don’t have the right attire… several ladies of the village will take your measurements and snap you off something fashionable… fashionable 40,000 years ago, that is.
There’s plenty to do, as there will be a prehistoric-tapa fair, a BBQ and, of course, the municipal pool to take a dip and cool off – watch out for the ichthyosaurs, mind!
It might be a fair old haul to drive up there from the coast, but until they invent time travel…
