Sunday the 17th of April was a big day for Otívar as it was its XV Fiesta de Níspola de Otívar, involving dancing, competitions, prize giving and plenty of helpings of Paella.

As the event’s title indicates, this is the 15th year that it has been running, each year putting the spotlight on tropical fruit and tasty dishes made from them.

The special prize that goes to a person chosen for the occasion this year went to the Granada-born journalist and TV reporter, Fernando Díaz de la Guardia.

The Mayor of Otívar was a happy bunny, as can be expected and qualified this event, which works towards putting El Valle de Río on the map, as one “not to be missed” – unfortunately Martin, who now lives in the village, did – he should be shot!
