Calahonda Seabed Cleanup

LHR Seabed Cleaning OnLOn the 17th of April, 70 volunteer divers will participate in an underwater clean up of the seabed just off Calahonda.

The main ‘target’ is lost lead; i.e., lead weights that have either come off nets, or even divers’ belts. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is where the booty will end up – the volunteers weight belts.

The dive starts at 10.00h with divers from Málaga, Sevilla, as well as Granada, working in pairs on the area off the boat-launching area next to Playa Caleña, Punta de Cerrón as well as below the cliffs.

Besides looking for cast-off lead weights, the divers will also be fishing out abandoned nets, old torch batteries and other bottom litter. When they find some, they will bring it to the surface to the awaiting five dinghies.
