The theft of a diamond necklace from a Hong Kong shop would be news just because the value of the item was over 4-million euros. However, this is slightly more interesting, because witnesses put the age of the girl thief as between 12 and 14 years old.
How did they do it? Well, two women, a man and the girl walked into Emperor Jewellery. They were all described as well spoken and well-dressed and asked to look at several items of jewellery. The young girl peeled away from the group and managed to steal a cabinet key from a drawer, which she used to open a display area containing the necklace.
With the necklace now in her pocket, she returned to the group who looked at jewellery for half an hour before leaving the shop without buying anything.
After exiting the shop and walking for a short distance the group split up and it appears they all changed their appearance before leaving the shopping centre and departing the area in taxis.
Staff did not even notice that the 100-carat, gold necklace encrusted with over 30 diamonds, was even missing until two hours later, which is when the police were alerted.
Police are still searching for the gang… good luck with that one!
