Apparently, the Majuelo Park has never had its name emblazoned on its entrances – this has been rectified after 30 years.
To be honest, the vast majority of Almuñécar residents – including myself – have never noticed, but I suppose that it’s not the Majuelo if it isn’t written in large letters over the park entrances.
“The sign bearing the park’s name was a simple and necessary matter, when taking into account the importance of the park for the municipality,” explained the Councillor for Culture, Olga Ruano.
She explained that while most Almuñéqueros weren’t even aware of this deficiency, visitors to the town could often be found at the entrance, asking passersby whether this park was the Majuelo.
