The short film, Subterráneo, won the short-film festival held in Almuñécar during the penultimate week of August.
Its director, Miguel Ángel Carmona from Sevilla, took the first prize worth 1,500 euros, and a trophy, which was handed over by the Mayor, Trinidad Herrera.
The VII Festival Internacional de Cortos de Almuñécar (FICA) 2014, also had a guest presence by Spanish actor, Juan José Artero, during the closing night of the festival, which was held in the Majuelo Park.
Subterráneo was one of the twenty films that were chosen as finalists this year out of the 142 short films entered into the competition. The entries came from countries all over the world, such as Argentina, Colombia, France, Belgium and the United States.
The 20 finalist films were shown over two days, (Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd) in the park.
Other prizes went to La Fiebre de Oro Verde (Juan Ángel Hernández and Manuel Martínez Colmenero) under the category of Al Sur De (a prize for films with a flavour of the South) and the Sexitano Prize was one by the short film, Espercojaos spotless (Jean Defrancisco, who is a French resident of Almuñécar)
The ‘up-and-coming’ prize entitled, Hazo Otro Corto, went to El Amor Me Queda Grande (Javier Giner)
