The Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (OCG) played in Almuñécar on the 12th of July with the Roman aqueduct lit up behind them.
Around a thousand spectators followed the concert, which was a tremendous success as the concert was a charity, fund-raising event.
The orchestra was not short on bodies either, as there were just under 50 musicians under the conducting baton of Friedemann Breuninger.
The programme included Mozart’s Cossi fan tutte – overture, and then Aires Gitanos, Introducción, tarantella and Romanza Andaluza by the Spanish compositor, Pablo Sarasate.
The evening was wound up with the Symphony 31 in D Major: Paris: Alegro assai, andante y allegro, again by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Eight-hundred chairs were installed down in the aqueduct area (next to Carbonel’s), as well as a sizable stage, obviously – 50 musicians take up a lot of space!
The money raised will go to four local charities/social organizations: Cáritas, Asociación de Familiares de Enfermos de Alzheimer (AFAVIDA), Asociación Madres Solas Marisa Sendón and Asociación de ACOFA-TDAH.
