La Perla de Carchuna

ECO calahonda road works OnLIt was Carchuna’s turn to receive a mains-water-&-sewage overhaul, specifically in La Perla de Andalucía.

The streets that are getting the attention – welcome or not – are Andrómeda, Odisea and the southern area of Cometa Halley within la Perla de Andalucía in Carchuna.

The work is being financed by the canon de mejora de infrastructuras; i.e., the extra charge that is levied on your water bills, destined for projects of this nature.

José García Fuentes, who is the Chairman of the Mancomunidad and a Vice-Mayor of Motril, said that the work would put and end to the flooding problems in garages.

The sewage and water-mains pipes/rain drains will run completely isolated from one another within larger PVC piping, thus avoiding one contaminating the other. This means that when it rains, you won’t get sewage coming out of the rain drains.

And as is the case of such projects in other towns, the street surfaces will be renewed, which includes both pedestrian streets and ones open to road traffic.

The whole lot has a budget of 170,000 euros and will include irrigation, street hosing points and two fire hydrants.
