The Mayor of Salobreña announced in Madrid that the Junta de Andalucía would grant an extension of the castle grant.
Sr. Gonzalo Fernández Pulido was in Madrid on the town’s stand at Fitur, which is Spain’s biggest, yearly tourist fair.
Obviously this is very positive news because it means that Salobreña won’t be losing the 600,000-euro grant – one of the conditions stipulated was that work had to commence by a certain date, which had come and gone, meaning that Salobreña faced having to give it back.
Salobreña already counts on 400,000 euros in its possession, which together with the larger amount brings the available budget for patching up the castle to one million euros.
