La Herradura villagers who live near Berenguel or Cuesta de la Negrita will be happy with the new street lighting there.
This ‘back lane’ links the centre of the village withe the Punta de la Mona, via the Barranquillo.
“This has been a long-standing request from locals [of the area] which has finally come about. In the first phase we have provided street lighting for the area known as the Cuesta de la Negrita, ” explained the First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya, adding, “We have erected five, 9-metre-high streetlamps and one 12-metre one.”
He went on to explain that this route is being more and more used, thanks primarily to presence of Hotel Best Alcázar and the Marina del Este. Furthermore, when there was a rock slide just up from Chambao de Joaquín, effectively cutting the lower access to the Punta, the Cuesta de la Negrita provided an alternative route to the urbanizaciones at that end of the Punta.
