Are there banks that prefer to lose money through hacking attacks rather than spend money on preventing it? The Provincial Public Prosecutor considers that there are.

The Public Prosecutor stumbled across this phenomenon whilst investigating a case of money laundering and has subsequently reported it to his superiors on a regional level.

He discovered that some banks considered it cheaper for them to come to extrajudicial settlements with their affected clients than to keep up to date with Trojan horses and Phishing attacks on their IT systems.
