Hard on the heels of the Town Hall announcement that the Almuñécar Bird Park would be opening in December, the opposition launches scathing recriminations.
Sr. Benavides’ party (CA/PA) criticises the fact that the three main attractions: bird park, aquarium and mountain park, have all been closed and inaccessible to the town’s visitors. They consider the governing party’s announcement for the coming reopening as an “operetta” that would be “laughable if it were not for the negative consequences.”
The CA/PA reminded the Mayor that it was Benavides who inaugurated the Bird Park in 1987 and that the installations, in their opinion, were shut down for “ridiculous reasons whilst in a perfect functioning state.”
Finally, they said that the coming reopening would take place without many of the exotic species originally housed there.
Editorial Note: Well, we imagine the only way to find out what shape the Bird Park is in is to wait until the reopening and have a look for ourselves. Perhaps our readers would like to send in their views if they choose to visit the installations?
