XXXVI Jazz Festival of Granada

AND ScottYou’re in luck if you are a Jazz fan because November in Granada is The Festival de Jazz de Granada month.

The jazz festival runs intermittently all month, although the main concerts happen between the 7th and 27th. Even though cut down in the number of performances – 28, down from 60 in 2010 – you’ll have a chance to see over a hundred jazzmen in action.

The 34th edition of the festival gives you, Christian Scott (whom many consider the new Miles Davis), China Moses, (daughter of Dee Dee Bridgewater) Eric Alexander, Chano Dominguez and last but far from least, Hammond keyboard demigod Dr. Lonnie Smith.

The same cuts that have shut down jazz festivals in Madrid have snipped savagely at the Granada budget so that the whole festival has been put together with a 50,000 budget – that might sound a lot but in 2008 the budget was 260,000 euros. If you go back a decade it was nearly 400,000 euros.
