The Town Council appears to have taken the clearing of dry riverbeds of vegetation very seriously, as work on the Barranco de Itrabo has just concluded.
Locals who live up this dry, stream bed, which serves as an access track for the outlaying houses, have been petitioning the Town Hall to repair its surface before the rains come, both for domestic use, as well as for the fruit-farms higher up, as the harvest season for some crops is nearing.
For those that are not sure where it is, it is the track that branches off to the right as you go up Rio Verde, right next to the sewage treatment plant. For those of you who have been here for a few decades, it’s where John and Anne Jones used to have their cortijo – doesn’t that bring back memories?!
