Else Byskov and her husband, Erik Gadegaard, moved to Spain 20 years ago and opened their dental clinic Dentadanés in Maro (Nerja).
Else was quite happy but often asked herself “Is this it?” Most of us have pondered the question “What is the meaning of life and why am I here?” Well, after moving here they were waiting for 9 boxes of their books to arrive from Denmark. When she opened one of the boxes, she saw a book she vaguely remembered but had never read. It was a book by the Danish writer Martinus (1890-1981), and after reading it she felt she had found the answer to her question.
Else was so enthused that she proceeded to read and study all of Martinus’ spiritually scientific works – collectively entitled The Third Testament. His main work is the 7-volume The Book of Life as well as the 4-volume The Eternal World Picture. In essence, what Martinus describes is a comprehensive world picture, which contains a logical and thorough explanation of our existence.
It is a world picture that substantiates that all living creatures form part of a living universe and that are continuously evolving through reincarnation and karma according to natural laws.
Else told me that Martinus had a strong and unexpected spiritual experience in 1921, at the age of 30, which transformed his life. He had received, what he himself called, “cosmic consciousness.”
During a meditation he had left the body and could perceive everything from above, and he knew he was in the presence of something divine. His “cosmic consciousness” enabled him to see beyond the physical plane into the spiritual realm. From then on, when he asked a question, it was answered.
He wrote, “I had become conscious in the life of the whole universe, and had been initiated into ‘the divine principle of creation’.” (The Book of Life I, section 21).
Many have heard the term “law of attraction”. Many have also read or seen The Secret. It seemed to take the world by storm, and this surprised Else seeing as Martinus had already described the subject matter as early as 1932.
These days there are a myriad of self-help, inspirational, and transformational books available covering subjects on healing, past-life regression, near-death experience, reincarnation, spirituality, consciousness etc. By looking at her extensive library and from speaking with her, I gather Else has read most of them.
However, Martinus has, undoubtedly, been the biggest source of inspiration to her – to such a degree that she has written several books based on, and summarizing, his philosophy. She wanted to share her vast knowledge of his work so that it might benefit others.
Her first book Death is an Illusion was published in English in 2002, and is an in-depth introduction to Martinus’ cosmology in a simple and straightforward way. The Spanish version will be released this month. Her newest book Ten Great Ways to Understand the World summarizes Martinus’ holistic world picture into 10 main points.
Among others, Else has also written The Undiscovered Country in which the focus is on evidence for life after death. Locally, books are available at their dental clinic Dentadanés. For more info. refer to www.deathisanillusion.com.
