You Know It’s Getting Rough (I)

…When drug addicts have to kick the habit because they’re on the dole and can’t afford it anymore, which is precisely what is happening.

Drug-detoxification Centres in Granada have experienced a 13 percent increase in the amount of drug users hammering on their doors for treatment, giving a total of 7,208 patients.

Gone is the time when you could drop out of school at 16 or 17 and pick up an easy job requiring no qualifications, giving you a wage that keeps you in drugs and your local drug dealer happy. There are just no jobs out there. Before, an unskilled labourer could make enough money on the building sites during the week to finance a weekend of narcotic recreation.
