Stabbed Councillor

Do you remember, about five years ago, that we reported on a farmer who stabbed the Councillor for Agriculture, José Rodríguez Jaime alias El Chavo? Well, his case has just come up and he has finally been brought before the judge.
On the 2nd of January 2005, A.M. F., was sitting at home, in his cortijo, in the middle of nowhere. Being a solitary type of man, he wasn’t given to visitors, much less trespassers.
When Sr. José Rodríguez approached the house to ask a question, A.M.F. stomped out brandishing a large clasp knife, unaware that his visitor held a public post and was none other than the Councillor for Agriculture.
So that the visitor had no doubt as to the farmer’s intention, he said, “I’m going to kill you,” several times as he closed the gap. This was pretty indicative that A.M.F. was not happy with his presence.
A man of his word, he immediately stabbed the surprised councillor in the abdomen, producing a 4cm-deep wound. The two struggled on the ground until the ventilated councillor managed to put some distance between himself and his assailant.
Anyway, five years on A.M.F. is facing a 2-year prison sentence and a 500-euros compensation payment. The Councillor, he only need a spot of patching up, but other than that, he now has a deeper understanding of the meaning ‘private property.’
