The XV edición de la Hecho en la Alpujarra (15th Made in the Alpujarra festival), which was held at the beginning of April in Órgiva, pulled in thousands of curious visitors.
The handicraft and food fair had 52 stands, among them La Flor de la Alpujarra (Órgiva), which is an ecological oil mill, run on a co-operative basis. Another stand had produce from an apiculturist (beekeeper) from Vélez Benaudalla, who began producing honey back in 1968. Ah, you say; that’s not in the Alpujarra! Yes, but his beehives are. Then you’ve got Los Corijuelos from Válor, which specialises in goat’s cheese.
Also present were the Asociación Alpujarra Arte Vivo, whose chairman is a master potter, and Cristina Viciana from Capilerilla with a stand of natural cosmetics and perfumes.
