If you haven’t already discovered Gourmet Bakery in town, you are definitely missing out. The Gourmet Bakery opened in Almuñécar on June 26th and according to the owners, Marie del Carmen and Armin, business is very good and they are delighted to be here.
This wonderful family-run bakery shop specializes in authentic German bread, rolls and cakes. Aside from selling to the public, they also deliver to shops and restaurants in the area.
They offer 16 different types of bread ranging from Grain Crust, Mixed Grain Rye, Sunflower with sesame, Multi-Grain, Rustic Rye, Pumpkin, Raisin, Baguettes, Dark Rye, to name a few. They even have Spelt bread for those who are allergic to wheat. The 13 different rolls they offer are just as wide-ranging. As far as their cakes go, they have everything your heart could desire and their selection varies from day to day. These include black forest, chocolate, cheese, peach and strawberry cake, apple or plum crumble, brownies, cream cake with fruit, apple pie, doughnuts and the list goes on.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, you can order a whole cake complete with candles and writing on it. For those of you in hurry, you can grab a warm sausage roll or freshly made sandwich and coffee to go. They have specials every day on selected items and don’t forget that Thursday is Resident’s day, where you can get a coffee for 80 cents or enjoy a coffee and a piece of cake or a biscuit for only 2,40€. Children receive a free orange juice to sip on while you enjoy your treat.
If you stop by early in November, you may be one of the lucky clients who receive a fee bread bag (made of cloth) for storing your bread. The Gourmet Bakery is open every day, except Sunday, from 8.00 – 15.00 and is located on Av. Juan Carlos 1 (corner of Calle Cariñena) down from the bus station, past the Colegio. They speak German, English and Spanish.
