I know this is supposed to be lighthearted, but people need to reminded of the inhumanity in Palestine, especially Gaza now.
Israel should have been economically sanctioned months ago for the depravity by the IDF and the Israeli Government. No nations have sanctioned Israel. They talk the talk but never do anything.

Israel should have been expelled from the UN decades ago for not complying to UN resolutions against them, but still the UN allows their grievous crimes to continue unabated. The UN is useless when it comes to sanctioning Israel.
Melania Trump sends a message to one despot, but not another worse despot imo
Why no letter to Netanyahu who has been responsible for killing, maiming and starving probably at least 50,000 children in Gaza (no one can possibly know the true figures)
American politics and that of the UK and many other countries is controlled by Israeli interests. That’s a fact.
Melania Trump wrote on the 15th August 2025
“Dear President Putin,” the first lady’s letter begins. “Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.”
“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope,” the letter continued. “As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few.”
“Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all—so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded,” read the letter. “A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation’s descendants begin their lives with a purity—an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.”
“Yet in today’s world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them a silent defiance against the forces that can potentially claim their future. Mr. Putin, you can single handedly restore their melodic laughter,”

“In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone you serve humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today. It is time,”
It is time also to send that letter to Netanyahu, but your husband and he are buddies.

Reader’s comment: “If hamas terrorist releases the hostages and surrender the war will be finished, all the suffering is on their account. And by the way what is going on in sudan is far worse !” – Philip Verstrepen
Philip, people tend to forget a few of things, one being that it was the Israelis that ushered Hamas into the West Bank and Gaza to counter Fatah. In other words, they thought that it was a spiffing idea to introduce religious fanatics to counter political fanatics. They just waved bus loads of them through the check points.
Secondly, this did not begin with the terrorist attacks in October but goes back long before and furthermore, it is often over looked that literally thousands of Palestinians are scooped up and thrown in prison where they are tortured and kept without charge literally for years, so how about those “hostages” getting a mention?
And while we are at it, perhaps a tad of criticism wouldn’t go amiss over the illegal Israeli settlers on the West Bank that push the Palestinian farmers off their land whilst the IDF just stand idly by. Hell, we could even mention the fact that Bibi is willing to bomb the crap out of anybody just so long as it keeps him in power and hence, out of prison. Your thoughts? – Martin
Reader’s comment: “It’s about time the Pro Palestinian and anti Israeli supporters got real and stopped being tree hugging leftists. Israel are defending their country from attacks, attacking enemies who attack them and wanting the return of their hostages. It’s a war, so get real, people are killed and homes are destroyed. Hamas needs to be wiped out and until this happens and until the hostages are released, then more people will be killed, including children. Yes its sad, but its war.” – Shiner
Online Ed: Hi, Shiner, good to see you chipping in! You and I both well remember the times of The Troubles in Ulster. Do you remember the RAF bombing the crap out of Catholic housing? Do you recall the British Army using tanks and armoured bulldozers and demolition charges to cause that level of destruction? Do you recall the British Government forbidding international press from entering Ulster or having killed nearly 200 Irish reporters? Did we target hospitals and school or deliberate shoot young children in the head? Did we starve the whole of Catholic areas, preventing food-aid coming in?
You see, what I remember is IRA gunmen taking popshots at the squaddies from bedroom windows whilst the women and children prevented the soldiers getting at them. Did the Army blast the feck out of those council houses with IRA snippers in them with absolute impunity, killing anybody inside whilst the British government claimed, “Britain has the right to defend itselves,” and US supplying with billions in weapons to achieve it?
Nope, we didn’t, and the Americans would have gone ape shit. Had we acted as the Israelis have in Gaza, can you imagine what the Americans would have been screaming about British? As it was, idiotic US press reports claimed that the RAF were bombing the Irish, having misunderstood, the how the term, bombing, was used.
The same America which was quite happy for hundreds of IRA collection tins in Boston pubs and elsewhere in Catholic-Irish districts that would go towards buying US armalites for the IRA?
So, no, this is not about tree-hugging, lefty-weft liberals; this is about the US empowering the IDF to slaughter over 40,000 women and children, giving them the arms to do it, whilst wringing their hands about Ukrainian casualties at the hands of the Russians. Over to you!
Reader’s comment: “Hi Martin, time for a bit of email ping pong ha! The British have, in the main, always fought modern wars and conflicts according to the so called rules and conventions, so I do not agree with that part.
The whole of Europe and the US should have stood up with Ukraine against Russia after they had invaded Crimea years ago and they are all still afraid to really get involved, leaving it up to the US to sell the Ukraine down the river in order to get peace.
As for the civilians that have been killed in Gaza, many have come from attacks on Hamas targets where civilians have also been present, being used by Hamas as shields. The civilians would have known they were aiding or hiding Hamas, so unfortunately they have been killed or injured during the Israeli attacks. I repeat again that Hamas needs to release the hostages or the killings will continue.” – Shiner
Online Ed: Spot of inter-service banter! 😉 Thanks for the comeback, Shiner. I am glad that we agree on most of the points and I fully agree with some of your points that I didn’t make… until we get the last paragraph, which brings me back to N. I. and… why not, bank-hold-ups.
Hamas are like the mafia; you don’t oppose them if you want to live. Just the same as anywhere in the world where ruthless gangs control their turf, you keep you head down and don’t make waves. In the Catholic districts of Ulster, you didn’t cross with the IRA if you didn’t want to get knee capped. Therefore the whole, excuse… sorry ‘reason’ behind slaughtering civilians because Hamas was in your basement and not throwing them out, doesn’t hold water, does it?
Moving on to bank hold-up with hostages… the whole reason for taking hostages is that the police aren’t going to storm in for the fear of killing innocent civilians… unless it’s America, of course where you’re almost more likely to be shot by a police officer than by a criminal, even if you’re crawling towards two of them in your underwear on your hands and knees, repeating, “Please don’t shot” as was one the case in a litany of similar incidents.
Riening in my slide into off-topic… the fact is that you do not kill civilians where terrorists or criminals are concerned, even if (and even taking the IDF’s versions of events) there were naughty people in the same building. And again, did the British ever demolish an apartment block full of civilians (much less a hospital) with a missile just because there were IRA gunmen inside? Nope!
So, given that Israel pretends to be a First-World democracy, isn’t it about time that they started behaving like one, or at least international retribution applied if the continue on the same path, perhaps? – Martin
Reader’s comment: “Let’s be clear here, what Hamas did was truly awful but not surprising given the historical and political context. The vast majority of Palestinians have been brutalised by Israel for over half a century and by Hamas for nearly a decade….. no-one can tell me that the 10s of thousands of young Palestinians killed are culpable. There is no real attempt by the IDF to target Hamas individuals. History will reveal it is another war crime period. Of course the Israeli state has set the scene for the next generation of resistance fighters.” – Fred Davies
