The Guardia Civil have managed to identify the driver who allegedly caused the death of a pregnant-woman driver on the 17th of December.
The driver is a 32-year-old Moroccan man, living near Toledo, who had been on his way to visit his homeland over the Christmas holidays.
The accident occurred when the driver reportedly drove onto the A-92 without making any allowance for other cars. A lorry swerved to avoid him and ploughed into the car being driven by the woman.
The Moroccan driver did not stop and just drove on.
The Traffic Police began investigating and eventually tracked down the culprit.
A car answering to the description of the suspect’s vehicle was captured on the CCTV of a nearby gasoline station: the car was easily identified by the large bundled that it was transporting on its roof rack.
It was precisely because of this roof load that led the police to believe that it was a North African on his way home, so they checked the routes leading to the Málaga, Algeciras and Tarifa ports.
The CCTV cameras on the AP-46 near Las Pedrizas in Málaga picked up the car and the Guardia Civil were able to see that it had Spanish plates, thus, they were able to identify the owner.
Finally, on the 27th of January, the Guardia Civil located him, now back from North Africa, and asked him about the accident. He recognized that he witnessed the collision between the two vehicles but hadn’t stop because it “did not concern him.”
