SaloArte 2014

SAL SaloArte OnLThis year sees the third consecutive SaloArte & Turismo event, aimed at promoting Salobreña through art.

The Mayor, Conzalo Fernñandez, considers that the town is becoming a ‘cultural tourist attraction.’

A total of 21 artists, both Spanish and foreigners, will exhibit their works in the Casa Grande up in the old town. On previous occasions the venue has been the castle, but that had to be changed owing to restoration work being carried out there.

The Chairwoman of the International Club, Helen McCormack was present at the presentation of the event, as was the Councillor for Culture, Mª Eugenia Rufino, who summed up the idea as “Art at the service of Tourism and vice versa.”

Each one of the 20-odd artists, from seven different countries, will contribute four to six works (depending on their size).

The exhibition kicks off on Monday the 30th of June at 18.30h and will give visitors not only the opportunity to view the art therein but also one of the architectural jewels of Salobreña in the old town.

But there is more because Córdobes guitarist, Chapi Pineda, will give a concert.

The exhibition will run until the 6th of July, from 11.00h to 21.00h daily – so get your skates on!
