Internal Affairs of the Guardia Civil arrested three policemen, two of whom are based in Motril, over drug trafficking.

The arrested policemen are a sergeant and a corporal belonging to the Maritime Customs branch based in Motril and the third, a private, in Málaga.

The Internal Affairs Department had been watching the three men’s movements for the last four months, as apart of a crackdown on the North-African drug route. However, most of the investigation had been carried out by the Policía Nacional but with the collaboration of the Guardia Civil.

So far there have been six arrests; the three policemen and three civilians. The judge has placed a gagging order on the investigation so little more information is available.
