The AP-6 Controversy

(COE12/HMI08 ) A snow storm that had 3,000 vehicles trapped on a motorway in the Province of Segovia on Saturday night has transformed into a political storm with calls for those responsible to resign.

Segovia Facelift Progress

Highway Thieves Arrested

A gang of robbers who preyed on foreign drivers has been arrested by the Guardia Civil. The modus operandi was to target foreign travellers parked in the rest areas of autovias and autopistas.

Segovía Prizes

The 2010 winner of the Andrés Segovía, classical guitar competition was Emerson Salazar from Chile.
Second Prize went to Gustavo Costa, from Brazil, and Third Prize to Jerzy Chwastyk from Poland.

Segovia Competition Result

The competition was won this year by the Russian, Dimitri Illarionov, who takes home with him the first prize of €9,000 and a handmade guitar by Paco Santiago Marín which is valued at €8,000. This highly talented 30-year-old has won other competitions in Spain, Italy, Poland, Belgium, and Russia.

Although briefly mentioned in the La Herradura section, we feel the 25th anniversary of the Andrés Segovia Classical Guitar Competition at the Centro Civico in La Herradura is definitely worth a mention
