The Prime Minister of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, summed up Infoca’s performance, when he addressed them after the wildfire season closed on the 1st of November
Junta Minister Antonio Sanz stated after the fire season had officially ended that the police had clarified the cause behind 88% of all fires that had taken place in Andalucía.
The Province of Granada has lost an area of 11,027 hectares to fire in the last 13 years and so far this summer, we have been very lucky with no major fires.
In a normal year the fire season runs from the 1st of June and ends on the 15th of October, but this year it’s still abnormally warm and dry.
With the present drought and recent fires, it might comes as a surprise that the Junta is going to partially close down Infoca for the season.
