The infamous and utterly misunderstood Mayan calendar, according to some, has it that we will all go poof in a cloud of cosmic debris on December the 21st, 2012. While quite complicated, and conflicted owing to scientific analysis and other discoveries, the prediction, should it prove true, might be a blessing as 2013, at least for Spain, looks to be an even harsher year than 2012 will turn out to be. Will anyone be saved?

One-hundred, and eighty tradesmen and suppliers have finally had their outstanding bills settled by the Almuñécar Town Hall; 1,300 bills totally some 17 million euros dating from between 2001 and 2011.

Well, after the revelations that half the annual budget goes on salaries, and that contrary to election campaign promises the Mayor and the First Councillor haven’t been squeamish about their own personal salaries, it now comes to pass that hitherto uncalculated bills have taken the public debt up to nearly 12m euros.

Almuñécar 45 Million Euro Deficit

The new administration in the Almuñécar Town Hall has had a bit of a shock. The counting has finally finished and the results for the audit which goes back to 2007 and covers the period up until 31 December, 2010, are in.
Unfortunately, the figures show that the administration owes around 45 million euros for the said period, reported the Councillor for Finance, Antonio Laborda.
