No Licence for Disco

Good news for the long-suffering neighbours of the Aquatropic water park – a licence for the discotheque has been refused. And good news for the users of the waterpark as the licence for the installations has been granted for a further 15 years.

Blue Zone Attrition Extends

Amazingly, and exhasperatingly, the Town Hall intends to extend the 11-to-11 Blue Zones to La Galera (Taramay). The reason why this is so controversial is because on this road leading to the beach Hotel Playacálida and Playa Pozuelo (Iguana) there are no shops or offices – just residential housing.

Simply Unbelievable!

In a fit of what can only be described as barking lunacy, the Town Hall decided to close the underground car park under the municipal market…

Busy Guardia Civil

The Guardia Civil in Órgiva have been busy, as well, after arresting a local resident and an accomplice from Granada, who had carried out a day-light mugging, witnessed by at least a dozen passers-by.

Three More Summers II

As part of the austerity measures, the Government announced that it would cut back 6,400 million euros on public spending. Even before this announcement, the long-awaited completion date for the A-7 coastal highway had been set back to 2011.

Making the Rounds

Normally, a collection plate in a church is where you leave alms or donations, but this was not the case for two gentlemen from La Mamola, aged 48 and 43, who allegedly decided that it was a source of revenue.

One Million Euros

The regional Ministry for Agriculture has committed one million euros to help companies and villages within the Alpujarra area. The Delegate for Agriculture made this announcement at a meeting in the Honey Regulating Board offices in Lanjarón.
