Concerts by Candlelight

Not to be missed this month are the charming ‘concerts by candlelight’ in the gardens of the Palacete de la Najarra (tourist information centre).
Set against the most gorgeous of backdrops the line up is pretty eccentric with something to suit most every musical taste, or at least offer something a little different from the norm.

Yuan Wok

If you have never eaten at a Wok style Asian Restaurant, then you have truly missed out. Being a lover of Asian cuisine, this is one of my favourite concepts.
You choose from uncooked super fresh ingredients, take them to the guy at the wok, who will give you a choice of sauces… he then cooks the fresh food in front of you while you wait. It is delicious beyond belief!

Falafel

Nowhere else will you find such a complete Arabic menu, with cus cus, falafel, taboule and even Arabic veggie dishes. If the fancy takes you, you could even partake of a delicious mint tea! Or even try a homemade Arabic desert.

Chiringuito La Bahía

For 21 years this fantastic Chiringuito has been feeding locals and holidaymakers alike. With superb fish and meat dishes including their famous Kebabs of Sardines, it is quite obvious that they have not taken their foot off the pedal in all that time.

Suki Sailing

Sailing from Marina de Este, the Suki II is a ten metre sailing yacht, skippered by Keith, who has all the experience needed to show you the local waters and coastline, where you can swim in the crystal clear waters, and maybe even sail among the numerous dolphins, and then anchor for lunch at a beachside restaurant.

El Gallinero

If you stay in the area is during the last week of August, you are very lucky people… because although the world’s premiere chicken restaurant El Gallinero, is closed for the first three weeks of the month for holidays, it re-opens on 25th August!

Marina Playa

Actually on the beach at Marina de Este, La Herradura, this beautiful Chiringuito, is a real gem. Set in the most beautiful of little bays they provide excellent fresh fish, seafood specialities and paella every day.

La Parrilla

The name translates as ‘The Grill’ and that is pretty much what La Parrilla is all about. Ramón and his team produce superb dishes, from fresh produce, including red-meat dishes and selected fish specialties through to Spare Ribs and a selection of tapas.

El Chambao de Joaquín

You really cannot come to La Herradura without eating at the restaurant belonging to a man who can only be described as a national institution. With his flamboyant style, Joaquín produces brilliant paellas, fresh fish, succulant meats… and all cooked over an open fire!

Realengo

The high standards at the wonderful Pizzeria Realengo never seem to waiver, and having eaten there on a table of nine, including three children, as well as a table of four, and of course many times just with my wife, we have yet to have even the hint of anything sub-standard.
