Salobreña Man Arrested

A 60-year-old man was arrested in Salobreña by the Policía Nacional for the alleged possession of child pornography.

This was a combined police operation entitled, Mararay, involving amongst others, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a.k.a. The Mounties.

The police, armed with the appropriate warrant, searched the man’s home and took away a tablet and a mobile phone for analysis.

The arrested man, who was released pending appearing before a judge, had reportedly downloaded images of child pornography via a chat app.

The police investigation was opened by the Mounties for the possible “commission of the crime of prostitution, exploitation and corruption of minors.”

They contacted the Spanish Unidad Central de Ciberdelincuencia (Cyber Crime) concerned with the protection of minors, who passed it on to the Grupo de Investigación Tecnológica in Granada.

According to Canadian investigations, this person distributed child exploitation material and would be guilty of possessing paedophile images.

The Policía Nacional obtained a warrant from the Motril Law Court to enter and search the man’s home in order to confiscate any electronic devices capable of being used for storage of images, etc. A cursory examination of the tablet and mobile phone uncovered child-abuse material.
