Municipal Market Movement

Almuñécar Town Hall has officially signed off on the Municipal Market even though it won't be completely finished before the end of the year.

There were no press outlets present, as this was done privately within the incomplete market; the Mayor sent out a press release afterwards, with the Gazette amongst the recipients.

Within the press release, Mayor Ruiz Joya confirmed that the market would be “fully operative before the end of the year.”

The work going on at the moment, as can be seen in the photos attached to the press release, is the building of the individual market stalls. He also said that the stallholders in the old market would soon be able to move back in.

As mentioned in an article a day or two ago on our website, the parking beneath the market will be inaugurated on the 21st of this month.

Editorial comment: just three points… When he said at the end of the year, he didn’t mention which… More seriously, how many of the old stallholders, having got on with their businesses elsewhere during these years, would be willing to move back in, and finally, why didn’t he want any journalists wandering about when he signed it of?
