The Secretary General for the Almuñécar branch of the PSOE, Juan Moreno Suárez, has questioned the money spent on international tourism fairs.
Councillor Moreno considers that after 14 years with the PP in power, the presence of the Mayor and his councillors has not delivered results, as was the case of FITUR in Madrid.

He says that each time the Mayor shows off the same photos, they are the same projects, such as the Las Gondolas Marina.
“Every year the same photos taking selfies in the Plaza de Callao, the Metro or the Atocha station for little result because we do not know of any emblematic project announced at the fair that has been launched, apart from Hotel Fuerte in La Herradura que, which has been in the pipeline for over a decade,” said Juan Moreno.
He went on to point out that municipal tourist infrastructure such as El Palacete del Corregidor, el Horno de Cándida, la Alfarería, la Estación Náutica in La Herradura, Peña Escrita or the Acuario stand closed and abandoned, as is the case of the project for the abandonded Escuela de Hostelería, which Sr. Moreno considers so important for young people in need of employment.
However, the PSOE Secretary General did admit, “Of course it is important to be present in Fitur. But we need more realities and fewer films.”
