The Guardia Civil have carried out another sweep against illegal camping in the Parque Natural de Los Acantillados de Maro-Cerro Gordo.
A hundred motorhomes and more than 30 tents have been moved on this week in this protected area in a joint operation with the Policía Local de Nerja and agents from the Junta’s Environmental Department.

Furthermore, two people were arrested for failing to comply and some of the motorhomes had to be towed away. Afterwards the area was cleaned up of litter and old furniture by Town Hall workers.
The ecologist group (GENA-Ecologistas en Acción) has been repeatedly denouncing in recent years this proliferation of illegal camping in the natural area of the Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs.

Reader’s comment: “This is music to my ears. We used to love going there, but over the years it’s become an eyesore and there’s never anywhere to park at the many viewing points.” – Melanie Briggs Kidd
