Nerja Town Hall wants to undertake various projects to improve mobility in the eastern part of the municipality, in the area around the old N-340 and its service roads.
A motion was unanimously approved at a Plenary Meeting of the Town Council, requesting that the Ministry of Transport ceded ten obsolete sections belonging to the old N-340.
The Councillor for Infrastructure, Alberto Tomé (PP” explained that it would allow, amongst other actions, to continue with the projects for the bicycle lane between Nerja and Maro and the viewing points, as well as allowing the Town Hall control of access to coves within the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo.
It would also allow Nerja to recover and maintain the Puente Viejo de Maro, which will be dedicated to the memory of the Desbandá of 1937 during the Spanish Civil War.
The approved motion gives the Mayor permission to sign as many documents and accords as deemed necessary in order to transfer these old, sections of national road to municipal ownership.

Reader’s comment: “Brilliant news! They contain many of the best views, of a spectacular landscape/seascape, and should be “rescued” and turned into proper parking and viewing areas – as well as a dedicated cycling lane.” – Erly Jones
