What? No Windows?

The Chana district in the city of Granada might not be as dodgy as it used to be... but when somebody nicks all of your windows...

Yes, one day, in plain daylight, somebody turned up in a block of flats and stole all the windows, door handles and a fire extinguisher…. oh, and the door to the electricity-meter cupboard.

One resident came across workers removing windows in the corridor and thought, “Good! The block community is finally replacing them,” but of course, the thieves were only ‘placing them in their van, and ‘replacing’ them with thin air.

The thieves removed 10 sliding windows on five floors between 17.00h and 19.00h. Residents should have known that they were not genuine workers because they never work that fast.

Of course, the crime was noiseless, except for the whistling of one of the thieves and he beavered away. So there was no sound of somebody breaking something, which would have had all the flat owners out into the corridor to see what was going on.

Pretty much the same happened in the Zaidín on the other side of the capital a week or two before, but in La Chana they did over five apartment blocks one of which was Las Perlas, the block in question for this article.

The booty, of course, goes to a scrap dealer, probably with no questions asked. But then again, how much will they give you for aluminium window frames?

Anyway, the Guardia Civil are looking into it… the theft, not an empty window frame.
