Parking in coastal towns during the summer is a living nightmare, as is wending your way through streets at a crawling pace, but when you get somebody parking in the most ridiculous place...

Somebody had decided to park on the roundabout along the Paseo de San Cristóbal in Almuñécar; the one that gives you access to Mercadona, etc. He was clearly parked on a no-parking box.

Along came a bus coming from town which needed to turn here for the parking area for Hotel Playa Almuñécar, behind the hotel.

Of course, the bus driver, who has to swing wide to get round the poorly designed roundabout couldn’t get past the car, whose occupants were either eating nearby or on the beach.

Traffic started piling up with the roundabout clogged by this coach, who could neither reverse or continue. Drivers coming from Chinasol, or from el Peñon del Santo or from Mercadona, all had to grind to a halt.

Fortunately, a pedestiran helped the bus driver edge backwards and forwards until he could clear the parked car.

Editorial comment: If anybody deserved to have the word “idiot” scratched onto his bonnet, then this car owner most certainly did.
