La Asociación Unificada de Guardias Civiles (AUGC) has highlighted annoyance felt by the officers at the management of the the Sección Fiscal y Fronteras in Motril Port.
At the moment twelve officers are on sick leave that could cause grave manning problems with the summer just around the corner. Therefore they want more “job stability and safety.”
There is also no confidence in personnel management under the port command and no equality in shift rosters, since their request for 12-hour shifts, which they consider would provide better safety within the port. At present, the AUGC considers, there is no safety & security in the port putting officers’ lives at risk when they have to take apart large, road freight vehicles
The AUGC has requested several times that the officers be sent on Workplace Risks & Prevention courses but to no avail. For example, a course on how to use a radial saw and other specific machinery (cutting through bodywork)
