New Phone Scam Alert

Padul Town Hall has published an alert on their social-media page about a phone scam that has arrived in this Valle de Lecrin town.

GRA LEC Padul Town HallThe caller pretends to be a Town Hall administrator in order to obtain the bank details of his chosen victim. The scam begins with a caller, identifying himself as Raúl González, asking a series of questions under the guise of municipal administrative management.

Of course, there is no Raúl González and whoever is calling certainly does not work for the Town Hall; it’s a scam to obtain as many personal details from the victim as possible, including DNI, full address and banking details.

Obviously, you should never give out any information to an unknown caller, even if he or she claims that they are Mickey Mouse’s sister and the Flatulent Flying Circus.

Don’t bother wasting your time ‘being clever;’ just put the phone down… Unfortunately, you can’t slam the receiver down onto its cradle if you’re using a mobile, but you can always say out loud, “So there!” as you hit the call-ended button, at least.

Again, this is happening in Padul, but it will be coming to a cinema in your area shortly… sort of thing.
